Not adhering to Jesus’ teachings means adhering to the way of Satan

October 9, 2015

Friday of the Twenty-seventh week in Ordinary Time

13Gird yourselves and weep, O priests! wail, O ministers of the altar! Come, spend the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God! The house of your God is deprived of offering and libation.

14Proclaim a fast, call an assembly; Gather the elders, all who dwell in the land, Into the house of the LORD, your God, and cry to the LORD!

15Alas, the day! for near is the day of the LORD, and it comes as ruin from the Almighty.

1Blow the trumpet in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let all who dwell in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming; 2Yes, it is near, a day of darkness and of gloom, a day of clouds and somberness! Like dawn spreading over the mountains, a people numerous and mighty! Their like has not been from of old, nor will it be after them, even to the years of distant generations.

2I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous deeds. 3I will delight and rejoice in you; I will sing hymns to your name, Most High.

6You rebuked the nations, you destroyed the wicked; their name you blotted out for all time.a

16The nations fall into the pit they dig; in the snare they hide, their own foot is caught.

8The LORD rules forever, has set up His throne for judgment. 9It is He who judges the world with justice,b who judges the peoples with fairness.

15Some of them said, "By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons, He drives out demons." 16Others, to test Him, asked Him for a sign from heaven.

17But He knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste and house will fall against house. 18And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons. 19If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own people drive them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20But if it is by the finger of God that (I) drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

21When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe. 22But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him, he takes away the armor on which he relied and distributes the spoils.

23Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

24"When an unclean spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, 'I shall return to my home from which I came.' 25But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order. 26Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there, and the last condition of that person is worse than the first."

Gospel Notes:

A). Luke 11:13 - The Holy Spirit: this is a Lucan editorial modification of a customary Jesus’ saying (Matthew 7:11) . Luke presents the gift of the Holy Spirit as Father’s response to Christian disciple prayer.

B). Luke 11:19 - Your own people: the Greek reads "your sons." Other Jewish exorcists (Acts 19:13-20) , who recognize that the power of God is active in the exorcism, would themselves convict Jesus’ accussers. See also the footnote on Matthew 12:27.

C). Luke 11:22 -  One stronger: Jesus, that is. Compare with Luke 3:16 where John the Baptist identifies Jesus as "more mightier than I."

Dear Humanity,

I personally encourage everyone to emulate JESUS' values on LOVE, FAITH, HOPE
and CHARITY, as the humanity has been a failure; which resulted to the more than two (2) years of pandemic and its after-effects on economy, not only here in the Philippines but worldwide.

And the saddest part of it, is that, it affected the POOREST of the POOR to even extremely be more poorer, in exchange of the affluent to be more richer.

Thank you and may GOD bless you and the whole family to have an enjoyed life's journey at home, Church, schools/universities, corporate commitments, public and places of interest.
