of the Second Week of Advent
Saints of the Day: Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin (1474-1548), Saint Leocadia, Virgin and Martyr (c. 304)
Reading 1
25To
whom can you liken me as an equal? says
the Holy One. 26Lift
up your eyes on high and
see who has created these things: He
leads out their army and numbers them, calling
them all by name. By His great might and the strength of His power not
one of them is missing![1]
27Why,
O Jacob, do you say, and
declare, O Israel, “My
way is hidden from the LORD, and
my right is disregarded by my God”?[2]
28Do
you not know or
have you not heard? The
LORD is the eternal God, creator
of the ends of the earth. He
does not faint nor grow weary, and His knowledge is beyond scrutiny. 29He
gives strength to the fainting; for
the weak He makes vigor abound.
30Though
young men faint and grow weary, and
youths stagger and fall, 31They
that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they
will soar as with eagles’ wings; They
will run and not grow weary, walk
and not grow faint.
Responsorial Psalm
1Bless
the LORD, O my soul; and
all my being, bless His holy name. 2Bless
the LORD, O my soul, and
forget not all His benefits.
R.
O bless the Lord, my soul!
3He
pardons all your iniquities, He
heals all your ills. 4He
redeems your life from destruction, He
crowns you with kindness and compassion.
R.
O bless the Lord, my soul!
8Merciful
and gracious is the LORD, slow
to anger and abounding in kindness.
10Not
according to our sins does He deal with us, nor
does He requite us according to our crimes.
R.
O bless the Lord, my soul!
Alleluia
R.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Behold,
the Lord comes to save his people; blessed are those prepared to meet Him.
R.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
28Jesus
said to the crowds: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will
give you rest.[3]
29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and
you will find rest for yourselves.[4][5] 30For
my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
Notes on Readings:
[2] Isaiah
40:27-28 - God's people, here called Jacob and Israel, must not give way to
discouragement: their Lord is the eternal God.
[3] Matthew
11:28 - Who labor and are burdened: burdened by the law as expounded by the
scribes and Pharisees (Matthew 23:4).
[4] Matthew
11:28-29 - These verses are peculiar to Matthew and are similar to Ben Sirach's
invitation to learn wisdom and submit to her yoke (Sirach 51:23, 26).
[5] Matthew
11:29 - In place of the yoke of the law, complicated by scribal interpretation,
Jesus invites the burdened to take the yoke of obedience to His word, under
which they will find rest; compare with
Jeremiah 6:16.

Dear Humanity,
I personally encourage everyone to emulate JESUS' values on LOVE, FAITH, HOPE
and CHARITY, as the humanity has been a failure; which resulted to the more than two (2) years of pandemic and its after-effects on economy, not only here in the Philippines but worldwide.
And the saddest part of it, is that, it affected the POOREST of the POOR to even extremely be more poorer, in exchange of the affluent to be more richer.
Thank you and may GOD bless you and the whole family to have an enjoyed life's journey at home, Church, schools/universities, corporate commitments, public and places of interest.
